"L. A. at its finest. This dive bar is like a 1970's apres ski lounge, complete with rich wood walls and a roaring fire pit to sprawl around. It has all the casual atmosphere of a mountain lodge, with exuberant and rowdy drinking. With mixed drinks around $4. a pop, everyone jockeys to buy the next round. Rated #1 by CitySearch users: Best Dive Bar in L.A., Best Karaoke in L.A. and Best Bar Food in L.A."
"HIDDEN GEM -- MY FAVORITE BAR IN L.A. After years of sampling what our fine city has to offer, I can now say without a doubt that Backstage is my favorite bar in LA. It's that perfect combination of popular but still low-key and not scene-y. The drinks are strong and cheap. The staff is really friendly and totally takes care of you .... and the karaoke with KJ Shane on Th/Fri/Sat is the best!!! Huge song selection book, and he's just the sweetest, most genuine guy and really supports everyone. (Even my friends who are terrified of karaoke have gotten up and sang there.) If you don't feel like singing, you can always lounge around the fireplace, or play pool. And the food is fantastic. Everyone I introduce to the bar loves it. I've brought groups of about 15-20 people there for karaoke, and we always have a blast! Backstage is a 10. It has become my Cheers. And I'll drink to that!"

"A friend took me to Backstage bar for the first time and it was awesome. Brandy was there with her entourage partying (which is quite surprising because this place is nothing like a glamorous Hollywood venue.) Brandy introduced Jermaine Dupri's new RnB group, The Brothers, and they sang acapella. Backstage is small and chill, but the place was packed with people who wanted to relax, have fun, and sing. Throughout the night, I kept smelling a delicious pungent smell, but couldn't not pinpoint it, until I saw a bartender delivering some kind of garlic fries with dipping sauce. I'll definitely order those next time. What a great first experience!"

"This place has become my new favorite bar in Los Angeles. The crowd is unpretentious, the drinks are cheap and strong, and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's also a great place to have a party -- I celebrated my birthday here last Friday. The cocktail waitress was taking orders about thirty seconds after we sat down, and she went out of her way to start individual tabs for everyone, so we could avoid the usual bill confusion at the end of the night."

"The Best Cheap Date In L.A. -- Prices are the lowest anywhere, the drinks are strong and the food is sensational. The Backstage is an oasis"
-- Los Angeles Magazine
"Drink prices are SO much more palatable than Hollywood-style places, as are the drinks themselves (read: stiff). The crowd is eclectic in background - everyone from blue collars with their names embroidered on their shirts to really cute Sony Pictures PA's to UCLA law students to Westwood-based bankers - but ultimately homogenous in spirit and all having fun. But, the best thing is that Backstage itself (as in, the staff) isn't pretentious. Everyone is so friendly and attentive"

"The Backstage is dark, sexy, fun and cheap. It's the best karaoke in L.A., bar none. No posers, just real people having a good time."

"I'm a little afraid, but I'm excited."
